The pair are raised by a thick moulded 'u' shaped base at the front and a stunning elongated back leg. Above the square tapering andirons with a very fine fluted design in each corner and 3 supports. At the top of each is a very attractive tazza.

A very rich and high quality French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. complete 3-piece ormolu andiron set with adjustable ends. the 3 pieces are raised by a scalloped shaped plinth below an acanthus leaf designed border and sensational grapevine shaped pierced frieze. Centered by an exquisite medallion of a portrait of a maiden, surrounded by a laurel garland with a tied ribbon at the top. The center piece is flanked by impressive 'urns of prosperity’ with elaborate ornaments of rose garlands, grapevines and ram heads. All original gilt
