A spectacular and unusual shaped early 19th cent. French Louis XVI st. mantle clock. The clock signed by 'Chapsal a Paris' in solid ormolu with all original gilt stands on a rectangular base raised by four swans. The center of the base has a heavily chiseled plaque of a landscape scene below two cherubs playing. The signed enameled dial is below two love birds. The sides are also heavily decorated with a dog, hearts and an arrow

A stunning mid 19th century French Louis XVI st. ormolu clock signed by 'Bardon' in Montpellier France. The clock in ormolu with all of its original gilt has two love birds on The left looking over to the right where a bronze cherub is standing proudly with his bow. The enameled dial is raised on a heavily chiseled base with garlands and a central reserve and all raised on five feet. Above The dial is The flame of prosperity wrapped in a wreath of flowers. The clock has a stamp on The movement for having won a 'grand honor' award in 1855. The bronze flame was done by 'Japy Freres' in Paris

18th Century Continental Giltwood And Patinated Regulateur

An extraordinary late 18th century Continental giltwood and patinated Regulateur, in two parts. The clock is raised on pawed giltwood feet with a central giltwood bow. Above is a flower with a wreath border and scrolling leaves and ribbons. The front door opens to reveal the open face and pendulum, flanked by giltwood scrolls and garlands, with a lattice design below an urn of prosperity. The patinated dial with ormolu hands, is surrounded by giltwood scrolls and acanthus leaves topped by an urn replete with foliage. All original gilt.

19th Century Empire St. Bronze And Ormolu Clock Signed ‘LEPAUTE’.

A monumental and most impressive French early 19th century Empire st. patinated bronze and ormolu clock signed ‘LEPAUTE’. The clock is raised on mahogany mottled border base below the ebony platform. Above are two large and detailed patinated bronze figures of roman noblemen in classic dress, one standing and the other seated. Between them is an superb ormolu soldier’s headdress and highly chased sword. The large exquisitely chased ormolu dial with acanthus leaves and garland border. All original patina and gilt.
Jean-Joseph LEPAUTE, (1769-1846 ) born in Bieves, France was a major figure in the field of horology and a superb craftsman. He was appointed clockmaker to Napoléon. Lepaute constructed clocks for other important residences including the Palais de Fontainbleau the Château de St. Cloud and Château de Comilègne. In 1821 he was appointed official clockmaster to Paris. In the Eighteenth Century French decorative clockmaking had reached its peak and during this period the house of Lepaute created some distinguished pieces. An example of a Louis XVI regulator by Lepaute. C. 1770 is housed at Windsor Castle

An exquisite French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and marble signed ‘Pendule Cage’. The clock is raised on a rectangular white Carrara marble base, with ormolu supports, decorated by ormolu scrolls, foliage and central wreath below a beaded border. the central part of the clock is a glass enclosure ‘cage’ superbly decorated with ormolu scrolls, foliage, bouquets and ribbons, centered in the front is the enamel dial. Above is an ormolu pedestal with a scrolled and beaded border supporting an white Carrera marble urn of prosperity with ormolu scrolled handles, swagging foliage and floral finial. All original gilt.

An impressive mid 19th century French Louis XVI st. ormolu and Griotte de Campan Rouge marble clock signed ‘Raingo Freres’, Paris. The clock is raised by an impressive rectangular rounded base with marble inserts. The central support is finely chased with reeded inserts and scrolling sides. Below the enamel dial is another insert of marble following an ormolu design of acanthus leaves and draping swags centered by a floral bouquet. The dial in within an ormolu trim with beaded border all below a striking top crown with a laurel wreath, flame of eternity and a quiver of arrows held together by a ribbon that drapes down each side, all signs of peace and protection. All original gilt.
