An exquisite pair of 19th century Louis XVI st. large scale ormolu sconces. Each remarkable sconce has five ‘S’ scrolled arms decorated with acanthus leaves. The lyre shaped pierced backplate has a bottom acorn finial below a running wave border. Above are richly chased acanthus leaves, scrolls and rosettes. At the top is a large bow with a central rosette. All original gilt.

The two ‘C’ scrolled arms with acanthus leaves, have a twisted rope design bordering the saucer and reeded design on the candlecup.

The backplate is topped with an urn of prosperity overflowing with blossoming flowers and leaves above a pegged base with garland swags. All original gilt.

At the top is a covered urn with the eternal flame all held up by a finely chased tied ribbon. The wonderfully scrolled arms also have acanthus leaves decorated the trumpet shaped bobeches.

All original gilt throughout.
