An impressive mid 19th century French Louis XVI st. ormolu and Griotte de Campan Rouge marble clock signed ‘Raingo Freres’, Paris. The clock is raised by an impressive rectangular rounded base with marble inserts. The central support is finely chased with reeded inserts and scrolling sides. Below the enamel dial is another insert of marble following an ormolu design of acanthus leaves and draping swags centered by a floral bouquet. The dial in within an ormolu trim with beaded border all below a striking top crown with a laurel wreath, flame of eternity and a quiver of arrows held together by a ribbon that drapes down each side, all signs of peace and protection.
