An exquisite pair of 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and marble candelabras. Each candelabra is raised on a square Rouge Griotte marble base on ormolu feet with acanthus leaf ormolu mounts. Above, each superbly chased ormolu urn portrays a different scene of cherubs at play, these in the manner of Clodion. The handles on each side depict lion like creatures joined by a swaging garland. The twisted top lid is below six ‘S’ scrolled arms ending in candlecups and saucers. Above is a central candlecup with flame designed finial that can be removed to place a seventh candle.
