French 19th Century First Empire Period Terra Cotta Mantel

A sensational and high quality French 19th century, ca. 1810, First Empire period terra cotta mantel. This wonderful small scale mantel has the two vertical jambs with Neo-Classical columns decorated with ram heads and top urns with the eternal flame. The bandeau has a central urn with foliage while on each side are griffins and foliate scrolls amidst rosettes. the top rectangular shelf has a bottom mottled border of acanthus leaves over a row of beads. All original patina.
