A charming and extremely decorative mid 19th century French terra cotta wash basin. The basin is mounted on an oak backplate with a mottled border. The basin is designed with a cherub holding and pouring water out of a jar above a large shell shaped basin. The cherub stands proudly on a pedestal above large scrolled acanthus leaves.
