An early 19th century Italian rectangular ebonized fruitwood and exoticwood marquetry desk. The desk is raised by four square tapered legs on bun feet. The legs are decorated by inlaid floral chandelles at the top and foliage at the bottom. The legs are joined by and 'X' stretcher with a central inlaid oval. The richly inlaid frieze on all sides has three drawers on one sides and three false drawers on the other. Each panel is with intricately detailed floral marquetry with various flowers. The three drawers are enhanced by ormolu key hole escutcheons. The top has an exquisite ilay of large bows tying floral branches amidst foliate scrolls and a bird.
