Category: Objets D'art
A sensational French 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated bronze fountain. The fountain is raised on a round mottled base adorned with scrolled foliage below three concave reeded elements. Above are three richly carved scrolled supports with large acanthus leaves and floral garlands ending with a cornucopia of fruit. Three charming winged cherubs with wonderful expressions holding hands decorate the central column from which the lower level of water flows from their lips. At the top is a pierced elongated finial with gadroon shaped base and tassel. There is an additional spray that flows from the top of the finial. All original patina.
Shown on a limestone base.
