A Fine And True Pair Of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu Andirons

A fine and true pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu andirons. Each is raised by a pair of circular bases, the larger one decorated with an oak leaf band, and a draped berried acanthus leaf on the smaller one. The supports are connected by a decorative band with a richly chased berry and foliate design. At the top of the larger column is the urn of prosperity, with inverted acorn finial, raised by tripod legs with hoof feet topped by cabochons and rosette blocks, joined by draped laurel garlands. The eternal flame at the top of each support has a fluted design with chandelles. All original gilt.
