An extremely high quality and handsome pair of Italian 18th century Louis XVI period three drawer walnut inlaid commodes. Each chest is raised by four square tapered legs each decorate with charming inlays, and intricate scrolling foliate designs. Above the straight frieze, the two bottom drawers are 'sans traverse' with a stunning central floral marquetry design continuing over both drawers and set within a quarter veneered panel and wood fillet frame. The same rich pattern is repeated at each side. The top drawer displays handsome straight parquetry and is flanked by floral rosettes. At the top the elegant pattern is repeated as on the two bottom drawers. All original and rich patina throughout.
