An exquisite French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu clock. The clock is raised on reeded feet below a running wave design frieze, topped by a foliate band. At the base is a finely chased scene of cherubs in an astrological theme with telescope, globe and maps, flanked by rosettes, that repeat on each side. Above is the centered enamel dial with reeded and scrolled capitols, and a finely chased cherub on each side, one holding a bird the other playing the flute. At the top is a lidded urn with berried finial and swaging laurel garland. All original gilt.
