A lovely French 19th century Transitional st. mahogany and ormolu commode. The chest is raised by slender cabriole legs with pierced ormolu sabots while the straight sides display a richly chased ormolu rosette. The arbalest shaped apron is centered by a fine ormolu mount of an urn and acanthus leaves. The two drawers are sans-traverse, with ormolu pulls and ribbon keyhole escutcheons, all framed in an elegant brass border. Above rests the original white Carrara marble top with cut corners. All original gilt.
