An exquisite pair of Italian 18th century Louis XVI period three drawer walnut and maplewood inlaid chests. Each chest is raised by elegant circular tapered legs below two 'sans traverse' drawers. The two drawers display a sensational maplewood floral inlaid central reserve flanked by winged figures. Foliate rinceau patterns also frame the drawers, all within a walnut border retaining the original ormolu keyhole escutcheons. Each side displays additional wonderful floral inlays below intricate rinceau patterns which is also repeated at the top drawer. The top of each chest is likewise decorated with the same rich patterns and figures, all framed within walnut borders. All original rich patina throughout.
