A stunning pair of Italian late 17th / early 18th century still life oil on canvas, attributed to Giovan Battista Ruoppolo. Each painting displays a striking array and extremely well executed floral arrangements with wonderful detail and captivating vibrant colors. In the background are blue skies with white and gray clouds. In the foreground at the base of the vases are grapes, mushrooms and cantaloupes among other herbs, flowers and fruit. Set within a mottled giltwood frame. All original paint.
Giovan Battista Ruoppolo (1629–1693), Born and lived his life in Napes Italy. Ruoppolo was a Neapolitan painter from the Baroque era, notable for painting still-lifes. He was a disciple of Paolo Porpora (1617–1673), a contemporary of Salvatore Rosa.
