A wonderful pair of French 19th century Louis XV st. kingwood and tulipwood commodes with ormolu mounts and their original marble tops. Each commode is raised by cabriole legs with elegant pierced ormolu sabots and impressive richly chased top corner mounts in a satin and burnished finish. At the center are two bombee shaped "sans-traverse" (without crossbar) drawers with a captivating sunburst and foliate marquetry. Each drawer displays foliate ormolu pulls and keyhole escutcheons with a pierced foliate bottom mount at the arbalest shaped frieze. Each side is decorated with the same sunburst veneer. Above is the original thick Siena marble top with an arbalest shaped front. With their matching pair of side tables Item #7728
