A stunning French 19th century Louis XVI st. Moucheté Mahogany and ormolu buffet with the original marble top. The buffet is raised by four topie shaped legs with ormolu sabots and richly chased foliate top caps below the frieze with an ormolu border. At the center are three doors, with all original top to bottom locks and hardware, the left and center doors interlock together while the right door is independent. At the central is a charming and detailed ormolu plaque of putti playing in wheat fields, set on a protruding mahogany panel with concave sides flanked by fitted foliate ormolu mounts, beaded trim and fine pierced rosettes. To each side are striking fluted columns with fitted ormolu chandelles and the elegant and sleek scalloped sides. Above are three drawers, the central one decorated with impressive pierced ormolu Vitruvian scrolls, the other two with ormolu keyhole escutcheons flanked by large detailed acanthus leaves. Above rests the original Fleur de Pêcher marble top, with scalloped shaped sides and rounded corners repeating the shape of the columns below. All original gilt and hardware.
