A sensational and extremely high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. ebonized fruitwood, ormolu and Japanese Lacquer Commode à Portes. The uniquely shaped three door chest is raised by opulent scrolled ormolu feet with chased acanthus leaves pattern in a satin and burnished finish. An ormolu fillet decorates the bottom border of the chest and a striking foliate ormolu satyr mask centers the frieze. The three doors are set above an exquisite fluted ormolu band with a mirrored pattern and are decorated with spectacular Japanese Lacquer panels. which are also repeated at the scalloped sides. The lacquered panels are framed within a hammered ormolu band with fine floral rosettes at each corner. All doors retain their original hardware, and the central door opens to reveal three drawers. Above are three finely chased berried laurel bands with charming central tied ribbons. At each corner are most impressive and sensationally chased scrolled foliate ormolu mounts in a fine satin and burnished finish, that encase the handsome fitted original Fleur de Pecher marble top that mimics the fabulous shape of the chest.
