A French Louis XVI St. Mahogany And Ormolu Center Table

A very high quality French Louis XVI st. mahogany and ormolu mounted center table, attributed to Krieger. The table is raised by elegantly decorated circular fluted legs with a top ormolu band, chandelles in each flute and end with acanthus leaf designed sabots. The rectangular shaped table has recessed panels with ormolu bands flanking a protruding central panel with a richly chased scrolled pieced ormolu mount on each side. The two ends have drawers with circular ormolu pulls. Each corner has a wonderfully decorative ormolu berried floral swaging garland tied by delicate bows. The mahogany top with rounded corners has a fanciful bordering ormolu gallery.
Maison Krieger was founded by Antoine and Nicolas Krieger in Paris in 1826. Producing and taking part in major exhibitions of the 19th century, including the Exposition Universelle and the 1849 Exposition des Produits de l'Industrie in Paris. Receiving a medal for their exhibition at the Universal Exhibitions of 1851 in London, and again in 1855, Paris. Maison Krieger created many pieces in Louis XV and Louis XVI styles, as well as 18th century and Empire designs. Maison Krieger is recorded to have been an active client of François Linke.
