A sensational and high quality Italian late 17th century early 18th century Louis XIV Period giltwood and marble freestanding console from Rome. This superb console is raised by handsome square feet and impressively scrolled legs with rich floral carvings. The legs are connected by a large and remarkable X shaped stretcher with the most exceptionally scrolled movements and a finely carved central mask and foliate movements. At the frieze are intricately pierced and carved desings, centered by a striking mask in a satin and burnished finish. Above the is the original impressive thick Verte des Pyrénéese marble top. All original gilt.
