A most impressive set of eight Italian early 19th century Louis XV st. gilt wood dining chairs. Each of the striking chairs is raised by cabirole legs with elegant topie shaped feet, lavish scrolled acanthus leaves and richly carved foliate designs at each corner. The arbalest shaped frieze is centered by a finely carved seashell reserve with a decorative scrolled and foliate pattern. The lovely shaped cushioned back support displays a reeded design with richly carved movements, centered by a detailed female mask. The two arm chairs have outstanding arms decorated with scrolled movements and large acanthus leaf carvings. All original gilt. Wonderful proportions and generous wide seats.
