A sensational French 19th century Louis XVI st. flamed mahogany and ormolu mounted three drawer chest. The chest is raised by elegant square tapered legs with fine ormolu sabots and rich foliate top caps. Leading up each side are striking curvaceous ormolu chutes leading up to an impressive foliate corner mount in a striking satin and burnished finish. The two lower drawers are "sans traverse" (without cross bar), showcasing the masterful skill set and precision require to fit them together. The stunning and warm flamed mahogany grain spreads over both drawers in a captivating butterfly veneer pattern. All framed in a richly chased foliate band with swaging berried laurel garlands at each corner and tied ribbon ormolu keyhole escutcheons. The top drawer displays an impressive ormolu interlocking pattern with foliate rosettes framed in a beaded band, also repeated at the sides. The sides display a quarter veneer panel with elegant ormolu border. The thick Coquiller de Bilbao marble top displays cut corner fitted within the ormolu corner mounts. Warm rich patina throughout.
