Item # 6185
Category: Objets D'art
An exquisitely sculpted Italian 19th century white Carrara marble charming statue from Milan of a young boy, signed Antonio Argenti. The statue is raised on the original impressive handsome Vert Patricia pedestal that swivels from side to side. The pedestal has a mottled square base and top, with cut corners, below the central reeded column, and gilt accents. The masterfully executed statue is of a young boy dressed in a shirt, who has fallen asleep in his woven chair. His dangling feet not touching the ground, he sleeps on his arms, snuggled over the back support, with one hand dangling over. Outstanding attention to detail throughout. Also shown here is a rendering of the statue that the artist drew prior to sculpting this exquisite masterpiece.
