A stunning French 19th century Louis XVI st. cobalt blue porcelain and ormolu lidded urn. The urn is raised by a square ormolu base with concave corners and decorative recessed berried laurel designs on a hammered background. The ormolu socle pedestal displays richly chased palmettes, with an oval and floral design. The cobalt blue porcelain body displays fine handles and handsome lions to each side joined by a tied fluted band with beaded trim. Above are striking tied ormolu ribbons and extremely decorative floral swaging garlands below a foliate ormolu border. The removable lid displays an elegant acorn finial. The interior is also finished.
