A stunning French early 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu, rock crystal malachite eight arm chandelier. The chandelier is centered by a striking tear drop shaped rock crystal pendant below a richly chased ormolu acorn finial and fluted bottom base, all in a sensational satin and burnished finish. At each of the four sides of the impressive square central cage are exquisite malachite fitted plaques framed within a fine egg and dart ormolu border. To each corner are two S scrolled arms decorated with large rich scrolled acanthus leaves leading up to fine reeded candle cups. Each arm is adorned with striking cut rock crystal pendants and beads with charming rock crystal floral rosettes. Attached at the top of detailed berried laurel wreaths are four very unique and masterfully executed ormolu chains displaying exceptional fitted etched crystal jewels within ormolu borders. The wonderful reeded ormolu top crown boasts a rich array of rock crystal pendants, floral rosettes, and swaging beaded garlands. All original gilt throughout.
