French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu And White Carrara Marble Clock

A superb French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and white Carrara marble clock. The clock is raised on wide topie ormolu feet, below the molded edges white Carrara marble base. The base is decorated with finely chased acanthus leaves and foliate ormolu bands, centered by an ormolu plaque. At one side is a winged cherub with a quiver of arrows and a flame of prosperity at his feet. Centered is the enamel dial within an ormolu border. A maiden in classical dress sits on the dial, looking down at the cherub, with a trunk and foliate at here feet. The blossoming vine from her feet continues up behind her. All original gilt throughout.
