French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Mahogany And Ormolu Side Table

An extremely elegant and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. mahogany and ormolu kidney shaped side table attributed to François Linke. The table is raised by slender circular tapered legs with wrap around topie shaped ormolu sabots. The sabots have foliate patterns and the legs are decorated with fine ormolu bands and top caps in a satin and burnished finish. The bottom mahogany tier is fitted within a fine wrap around ormolu gallery with a fluted pattern. At the frieze are richly chased pierced ormolu movements of detailed dragon flies amidst floral wreaths and flanked by fitted ormolu chandelles. At the center is a hidden drawer opened by a button concealed beneath it. Above is the beautiful polished top, emphasizing the fabulous mahogany grain, framed within an ormolu band and pierced ormolu gallery. All original gilt.
François Linke (1855-1946) Renowned 19th Century Parisian Ébéniste.
Linke created historical interpretations of Louis XV and Louis XVI styles. He displayed at the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1900 where he received a gold medal.
