A high quality and very impressive French 19th century Louis XVI st. kingwood, tulipwood and ormolu buffet, by Charles Bernel, Paris. The buffet is raised on topie shaped feet with ormolu top cap below the curved frieze accented with an ormolu band. At the center are three wide drawers with a quarter veneered inlay, with tulipwood and kingwood borders. Each drawer has ormolu keyhole escutcheons and pulls, flanked at the top with finely chased ormolu mounts, below a finely chased ormolu border. The curved sides are decorated with an exotic wood floral marquetry with ormolu rosettes at each corner, and open to reveal an interior shelf. All below the original thick Brèche Violette marble. With all original hardware and gilt throughout.

Charles Bernel was a renowned French cabinetmaker in the late 19th century.
