French 19th Century Neo-Classical St. Patinated Bronze And Ormolu Lamp Signed E. Picault

A very handsome French 19th century Neo-Classical st. patinated bronze and ormolu vase mounted into a lamp, signed E. Picault. The lamp is raised on ormolu ball feet below the circular moulded edge white Carara marble base. The patinated bronze socle is supports the body accented with ormolu bands at the bottom and top. The front an back of the vase have mythological figures and very decorative acanthus leaf designed handles at each side. All original patina throughout.
Émile Louis Picault (24 August 1833 – 1915) was a French sculptor, best known for works depicting allegorical and patriotic subjects, and mythological heroes. Picault was a very prolific artist and began to show his artwork at the Salon beginning in 1863.
