French 18th Century Louis XVI Period Mahogany And Ormolu Console

A very attractive French 18th century Louis XVI period mahogany and ormolu console. The console is raised on tapered fluted legs fitted with brass filets, ormolu sabots and top caps. The legs have ormolu rosette blocks and are joined with a tier with white Carrara marble and ormolu pierced gallery. Four supports continue to support the curved frieze with brass border. At the frieze is a central drawer with finely chased ormolu keyhole escutcheon and beaded border. At each side is a curved drawer that can only be accessed by a secret mechanical push button. All original warm patina throughout.
