A Large Scale French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Buffet, Signed Krieger

A sensational and large scale French 19th century Louis XVI st. mahogany buffet, signed Krieger. The high quality buffet is raised by topie shaped fluted legs decorated by a chased ormolu band and sabot. The two curved ends have a central tier and are fitted with white Carrara marble and pierced ormolu gallery. At the center are two mottled doors with ormolu rosettes and finely chased foliate mounts with large rosette at each side. At the apron are three drawers with richly chased ormolu keyhole escutcheons and pulls. All below the impressive and thick white Carrara marble top. All original gilt and patina throughout.
Maison Krieger was founded by Antoine and Nicolas Krieger in Paris in 1826. Producing and taking part in major exhibitions of the 19th century, including the Exposition Universelle and the 1849 Exposition des Produits de l'Industrie in Paris. Receiving a medal for their exhibition at the Universal Exhibitions of 1851 in London, and again in 1855, Paris. Maison Krieger created many pieces in Louis XV and Louis XVI styles, as well as 18th century and Empire designs. Maison Krieger is recorded to have been an active client of François Linke.
