A most elegant pair of French 19th century Louis XV st. kingwood, tulipwood and ormolu commodes. Each chest is raised by fine cabriole legs with rich pierced ormolu sabots. The arbalest frieze of the bottom drawer is centered by a fine pierced foliate ormolu mount. Each of the Sans Traverse, without crossbar, parquetry designed drawers display richly chased ormolu pulls and pierced foliate keyhole escutcheons. The sides are also decorated with the same striking parquetry while each corner displays outstanding rich foliate ormolu mounts in a satin and burnished finish. Above is the original Campan Rubané marble top with a mottled border that follows the lovely contours of the chest.
