A spectacular and complete set of twelve Italian early 19th century Louis XVI st. giltwood dining chairs. Each seat is raised on tapered fluted legs with brass castors on the front and a foliate surround at the top. The generous sized seat, with curved frieze, have rosette blocks at the front corners. The armchairs have beautiful scrolled arms with padded armrests and acanthus leaf carvings, and are supported by a foliate surround above a fluted column with a rosette block below. The sides of the curved upholstered back have fluted columns with rosette blocks and foliate finials. At the top crown is an ornate detailed carving of the eternal flame, quiver of arrows and floral wreath with bow, amongst foliate. Upholstered in beige silk fabric with trim. All original gilt.
