A magnificent French early 19th century Louis XV st. ebony and ormolu desk. The desk is raised by elegant cabriole legs with foliate ormolu sabots and richly chased foliate corner mounts in a striking satin and burnished finish. At the apron are three drawers, each with fine and detailed ormolu keyhole escutcheons. The rear is finished in the same fashion with three faux drawers. Above is the brown gold tooled leather witting surface framed within a mottled ormolu gallery with fine foliate reserves at each corner. To both side are fine fitted gold tooled leather pull out writting surfaces with an ormolu pull.
