A striking French 19th century Louis XV st. Coromandel two drawer bombee shaped chest. The chest is raised by elegant cabriole legs with pierced foliate ormolu sabots which center the deep arbalest shaped frieze. The drawers are sans traverse (without crossbar) showcasing the cabinetmaker's high skill set. The fabulously detailed and vivid Coromandel design extends over both drawers and each side depicting a gift offering to the emperor amidst beautiful and charming scenery. Each corner displays finely chased and wonderfully shaped pierced ormolu mounts in a rich satin and burnished finish. Above is the original Red Levanto mottled marble top which repeats the beautiful shape of the chest. All original gilt throughout.
