A most charming and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and patinated bronze statue of a maiden dancing with cherubs with musical instruments Signed A. Carrier. The most charming statue is raised by an oval and mottled patinated bronze base. Above, is the beautiful ormolu and patinated bronze maiden, dressed in wonderfully detailed classical attire with her hands above her head holding her shawl. At her feet are two richly chased joyous cherubs with wonderful detail dancing on their tip toes. One holds a tambourine while the other holds a flute and is hiding under the maiden's robe.

Briefly a student of David d'Angers at the École des Beaux-Arts. Auguste Rodin worked as his assistant between 1864 and 1870. In 1862 Carrier-Belleuse was one of the founding members of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, and was made an Officier of the Légion d'honneur. He was also made artistic director at the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres in 1876.
