A striking French 19th century Louis XVI st. bronze and marble statuary signed Kinsburger. The statue is raised a rectangular marble base with cut corners. At the center is a large and most decorative seashell and wave design where a charming and richly sculpted cherub rides an impressive and detailed dolphin. All original warm patina throughout.
Sylvain Kinsburger (1885-1935) French sculptor. He was a student of Auguste Dumont and Gabriel-Jules Thomas at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Kinsburger exhibited a large figure entitled Le Courtisan at the Salon of 1911. A large plaster of his Dreaming acquired by the Salon of 1891 was formerly at the town hall of Villefranche-sur-Saône . A drawing of this grouping is preserved in the department of graphic arts of the Louvre museum in Paris .
