A sensation and most unusual French 19th century Louis XV st. ormolu mirrored centerpiece, signed A. Aucoc. The centerpiece displays impressive ormolu scrolls with intricate and detailed foliate and floral designs throughout. Amidst the pierced movements are finely chased hammered and reeded patterns in a beautiful satin and burnished finish. Above is the mirrored top. A truly remarkable piece with all original gilt throughout.
Andre Aucoc - A family business of prominent and renowned Parisian jewelers and goldsmiths, in the mid to end of the 19th century. They produced pieces for King Louis Phillippe, Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie.
From 1874 to 1876 René Lalique was actually an apprentice to Aucoc.
