A sensational Italian early 18th century Louis XIV period giltwood and marble console. The console is raised by foliate feet below opulent scrolled legs adorned with large richly carved acanthus leaves. Each leg is connected by an impressive X shaped stretcher with foliate wave designs, with a beautiful seashell central reserve. The powerful pierced apron displays berried scrolled movements centering a fine carved floral reserve. Each side is decorated in the same fashion. Above is the original Gris St. Anne marble, fitted within a mottled giltwood border. All original gilt throughout.
