A striking French 19th century Renaissance st. Rouge Griotte marble and ormolu planter. The planter is raised by handsome ormolu paw feet below a scrolled design and palmettes with a hammered pattern. The impressive base displays fine foliate designs centered by a richly chased mask of Bacchus below a beautiful winged maiden. The Rouge Griotte marble planter has ormolu handles at each side, with decorative palmettes with grape clusters. The top border is decorated with a fine palmettes design. Inside is a removable pewter fitted insert. With all original gilt throughout.
