A spectacular French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and patinated bronze chandelier. The twelve arm chandelier is centered by a striking bottom ormolu finial with a pierced foliate design and elongated foliate movement gathering the silk upholstered bottom, through which the warm glow of the interior four bulbs are reflected. At the side are magnificent and richly chased pierced ormolu foliate and interlocking scrolled patterns set on a patinated bronze background. The chandelier is decorated with impressive and richly chased ormolu seashells in a beautiful satin and burnished finish. Above are four supports with a knotted fabric like design accented by fine tassels. The supports join to the top crown which displays an inverted finial with a foliate design and rich acorn finials below the original chain and canopy.
