A most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu clock. The clock is raised by fine foliate topie shaped feet below a tied berried laurel band, acanthus leaves and beaded trim. Two detailed charming cherubs sit at the base, centered by the impressive richly chased socle pedestal decorated with berried laurel, acanthus leaves and grape clusters. The white enameled dial displays pierced ormolu hands and a beaded ormolu band centered by richly chased swaging floral garlands and a tied bow above. To each side are fine rinceau shaped arms adorned with large acanthus leaves and flowers. Above is the impressive baby Bacchus holding up a grape cluster.
