French 19th Century Empire Neo-Classical St. Alabaster And Ormolu Chandelier

A magnificent French 19th century Empire Neo-Classical st. alabaster and ormolu chandelier. This six light chandelier has an oval shape alabaster moulded edge base decorated with a pierced ormolu foliate frieze. The six very decorative C scrolled ormolu arms are adorned with rosette and acanthus leaf designs. The base displays four very impressive finely chased ormolu eagles with widespread wings. The base is joined to the top by six patinated bronze connectors with ormolu foliate mounts and rings, centered by an inverted frosted glass flame light. The patinated top canopy is decorated with large ormolu acanthus leaved and central spray.
