Item # 9222
A beautiful and most unique French 19th century Louis XV st. kingwood, ormolu and mirrored bar attributed to Paul Sormani. The high quality bar or rafraishisoir, is raised by elegant cabriole legs with fine pierced wrap around foliate ormolu sabots. At the center of the scalloped shaped frieze is a most decorative and richly chased pierced foliate ormolu mount, also repeated on all sides. At the center of each side is a finely inlaid floral marquetry designed flap down door with ormolu keyhole escutcheons which open to reveal a mirrored interior which retain all of its original mirror plates, hardware and hinges. Each door when opened works as an additional functional surface. At each corner are striking ormolu mounts with a beautiful etched design in a rich satin and burnished finish. The top tray, which lifts off as a serving tray, displays a most decorative scalloped shape with a fine wrap around ormolu gallery, ormolu handles to each side and a masterfully executed central floral marquetry design. With the tray removed, the top displays an elegant quarter veneered kingwood pattern. All original gilt.
