A charming and high quality French 19th Century Louis XVI st. ormolu and marble statue of a seated maiden titled DRYADE and signed by L. Gregoire. The statue is raised by an octagonal Black Belgium marble base with a decorative bottom ormolu band and an etched central ormolu plaque inscribed DRYADE. Above is the beautiful and richly detailed maiden draped in exquisite flowing period attire holding one hand near her face, seemingly deep in thought. She has an oak leaf and acorn wreath in her hair and is seated on a tree trunk with richly detailed acorns and etched oak leaves at her feet.
