A spectacular and most impressive Italian 19th century Baroque giltwood and marble free standing console. The console is raised by elongated ‘S’ scrolled legs with carved acanthus leaves at the top and bottom while at the mid section is a carving of a whimsical animal head. The four legs are joined in the center by an ‘X’ stretcher with an exuberant central foliate branch. The scalloped pierced frieze has a central female mask flanked by foliate branches with fruits. The frieze at each side has a central theatrical mask all in front of a lattice designed background. At the top lays its original fitted Montmeyan Breccia marble top. Richly carved and retaining all of its original gilt.
