An extremely elegant and high quality pair of Italian 18th century Louis XVI period patinated and giltwood armchairs. Each armchair is raised by square tapered legs below finely carved block rosettes. The straight frieze displays a beaded border and is centered by a carved swaging berried laurel garland. Each finely scrolled arm displays a richly carved giltwood acanthus leaf and beaded design leading up to the cushioned arm support. The uniquely shaped and most decorative back support also displays a beaded design, block rosettes and a fine top reserve centered by berried laurel swags. All original gilt and patina throughout.
