A 19th Century Louis XVI Period Patinated Milanese Mirror

A sensational and most decorative 19th century Louis XVI period patinated Milanese mirror. The beveled mirror is raised by topie shaped foliate supports flanking a central draping reserve with a sleeping cherub on a blanket amidst flowers and colorful acanthus leaves. The original mirror plate is decorated by an inner giltwood trim and an outer carved concaved design with a sky blue and cream color. Above the mirror plate is a richly carved panel with two central cherubs embracing, amidst wonderful and colorful scrolled foliage. The top crown in a half round shape has two elegant love birds, one above a quiver with bows, a sign of protection. The other above a cornucopia with flame, a sign of eternal love, all flanked by blossoming and colorful flowers. All original colors and patina.
