A Venetian Early 19th Century Two Drawer Japanese Lacquered Commode With Marble Top
Item # 9245
A very decorative Venetian early 19th century two drawer Japanese lacquered commode with marble top. The commode is raised by slender 'S' cabriole legs ending with a ball and claw. The legs have a top crest shaped design with a raised motif of a basket with flowers. Above is the serpentine shaped frieze with an arbalest shaped front with two drawers sans traverse (without a crossbar). The front and side have wonderfully executed red lacquered panels with Asian figures within a landscape. These panels are surrounded by a very elegant gold lattice design over a charcoal brown background. Above each leg are additional elongated red lacquered panels with richly decorated floral bouquets. Above is a red lacquered mottled trim supporting the Red Lavanto marble top.
