An elegant late 19th century French transitional st. kingwood, tulipwood and ormolu desk. Raised on slender tapered legs ending in ormolu sabots. The bombe shaped desk with scalloped apron and one large central drawer is adorned with intricately chased ormolu bowed garland key escutcheon and drawer pulls. Vertical capital style ormolu mounts with foliate and fruit garland flank each side at the front. The pull out writing surface with leather inset, ormolu trim and pulls has compartments on the sides. Centered above are two smaller drawers with lovely foliate scroll pulls; topped with an ‘Rouge St. Rėmy’ marble inset and pierced ormolu gallery. All original gilt throughout.
